Pacific Palms Surf Club president Kel McCredie said this was the 15th year of the Rock to Rock swim and he expected up to 300 ocean swimmers to participate.
“The first swimmers will hit the water at midday, with the second wave heading off shortly after. It’s a great swim for all levels, from elite to novice, with surf conditions usually calm at this time of year,” he said.
Organisers thanked long term sponsor Pacific Palms Real Estate which has come on board again to put up the prizes for the event; cash prizes for the overall first three male and female place finishers and medals for the first three in all age categories.
“Don’t be late as the first gun will go off at midday sharp.”

All competitors will wear an electronic timing band so that results will be available soon after the race and water safety will be provided by Pacific Palms SLSC lifesavers. In the event of dangerous surf conditions, the event will relocate to Wallis Lake.
Entry is open to all competent swimmers from age 10 upwards and will set you back $30 if you enter by 5pm on Easter Saturday. This includes race entry, free swim cap and also a barbecue sandwich after the event. For those who would rather check out the surf on the day first, late entries on Easter Sunday will be taken up until 11am and will cost $40.
Entries can be made online (go to www.oceanswims.com and then find Pacific Palms under the ‘Featured Swims’ heading). Online
entries close at midday on Easter Saturday April 19. Entries will also be taken on Easter Saturday at the Blueys Shops, Boomerang Drive, Pacific Palms, from 8.30am-1pm, or at the Pacific Palms SLSC clubhouse, Lakeside Crescent, Pacific Palms, from 1.30–5pm.
The last chance for late entries is on the morning of the race from 9am-11am. Full details are on the club’s website, www.pacificpalmssurfclub.com, and timed certificates will be available for downloading from the website after the event.
“Competitors who have pre-entered still need to pick up their cap and timing band prior to the compulsory race safety briefing at 11.40am in the clubhouse,” Kel said.

After the presentation of prizes, the holiday raffle donated by Classic Holidays and the Pacific Palms Resort will be drawn. Tickets will be on sale at the club prior to the draw.
