They played Rutherford in round two and soundly defeated them 48 to 15. This meant they progressed to round three of the Knockout.
In round three they played Whitebridge High School, an extremely tough team that had most girls trying out for positions in the Hunter Academy for netball.
Unfortunately, the team went down 11-6 in the first quarter before they realised they were not being outclassed by the city team. The girls settled down and played the beautiful netball that they knew they could produce. They were neck and neck with Whitebridge each quarter for the rest of the game and outscored them in the final quarter.
In the end they went down 27-20. Congratulations ladies, you were fantastic and played absolutely fabulous netball. It was a pleasure to watch such a high level of netball.
Thanks again to our fantastic umpire on the day, Deb Soper, for taking time out of her schedule to travel with us to Newcastle and transporting half the team. Thanks also to Paul Morrison for taking the rest of our team and Kim Steel for being such a great supporter of our girls. Also thanks again to Carla Gillis, GLC Senior Campus, for helping to organise the team and ensure it all went smoothly.
Some of the girls will leave us next year after graduation, but hopefully more will join and return in the knockout to give the city girls a run for the title of CHS Champions.
