The Great Lakes resident, who has won six times on the Ladies Professional Golf Australia (LPGA) tour, will be competing against another 93 professionals and 25 amateurs for the title.
It won’t be an easy task with no less than 13 Ladies European Tour (LET) winners in the field.
Kemp has been warming up by playing in the Club Car Series and a number of other events over the past two weeks.
She has played some solid golf with a runner-up finish in Antill Park and two tied fifth placings in Yamba and Moss Vale.
Kemp changed coaches towards the end of last year and is now working with John Serhan at St Michael’s golf Club in Sydney.
The change in coach and a renewed dedication to practising have both been vital towards her consistent start to 2014.
When asked about her goals for this week, the talented player replied: “Win, win, win. I am having another lesson with my coach before the NSW open starts. My game is really close, so I can’t wait to tee it up at Oatlands,” Kemp said.
Leading the international contingent at the NSW Open is former winner of the event and winner of over 80 world titles, England’s Laura Davies.
She is joined by 12 time winner in Europe, Frenchwoman Gwladys Nocera, multiple LPGA and LET winner Sophie Gustafson of Sweden and England’s Trish Johnson.
Apart from Kemp, Lindsey Wright, Stacey Keating, Frances Bondad and Rebecca Artis will be some of the other Aussies vying for the NSW Open title.
The Bing Lee Fujitsu General Women’s NSW Open will be played from January 24 and 26 at Oatlands Golf Club.
Players are competing for their share of $100,000 in prize money. You can follow Kemp’s progress by visiting: www.alpg.com.au
