Showing up the young guns

TWO shooters from the Great Lakes, who are both in their 80s, showed the young ones a thing or two during the recent competition at the Koorainghat rifle range.

Last week’s .22 Rimfire Benchrest 50 metre target class score and group matches were both won by 80-year-old Ray McIntosh from Tuncurry (100-5 and 5.33mm diametre group). Right behind him was 86-year-old Sonny Heath from Coomba Park who was the runner-up in the score (100-4) and also runner-up in the hunting class score (99-2). Don Powell, a relative youngster at 66 years of age from Pacific Palms shared the target class win also on on 100-5.

The score of 100-5 means all 10 shots hit the 12mm wide bull with five hitting the dead centre dot of the target.
