THE driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal collision on Burrnaeer Road, in Coomba Park, on June 23 has been charged in relation to the crash.
The 65-year-old man from the Netherlands has been charged with one count of negligent driving occasioning death and two counts of negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
The man was driving a Skoda with three passengers on Burraneer Road at approximately 12.45pm on Saturday June 23 when it collided head on with a Nissan Navara driven by a 60-year-old Coomba Park man. An 89-year-old male passenger of the Skoda died at the scene with two other female passengers transported to John Hunter Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Navara was also transported to John Hunter Hospital after suffering a fractured sternum. The man will appear in Forster Local Court on July 24.
NOTE: In our June 27 edition we incorrectly reported that the deceased 89-year-old man had been the driver of the vehicle. He was in fact a passenger.
