Nabiac man arrested as part of state-wide drug bust

A 19 year-old Nabiac man has been arrested and is expected to face numerous charges relating to the large scale production and commercial supply of drugs between April and May this year.

Police from Strike Force Whitmont have today seized over 20 kilograms of cannabis leaf and $70,000 in cash after 18 search warrants were executed simultaneously at 7am this morning.

The search warrants were executed across nine local area commands including Cabramatta, Campsie, Bondi, North Sydney, Tuggerah Lakes, Central Hunter, Tamworth and Forster.

Strike Force Whitmont was formed in March 2012 by Tuggerah Lakes Command to investigate large scale supply of cannabis within the command and numerous metropolitan and regional areas.

To date it has seized approximately 40 kilograms of cannabis leaf with a potential street value of $260,000 and more than $70,000 cash.

Police expect to lay in excess of 150 charges today against the 18 people arrested.

The charges will be in relation to the large-scale production and commercial supply of drugs and knowingly taking part in a criminal group.

Inquiries are continuing and further arrests and confiscations are expected.
