THEY say ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ and a group of students have put the notion into practice in creating a mural made up entirely of rubbish collected from local beaches.
“We’ve been studying global issues including endangered animals put at risk through rubbish in our oceans,” support unit teacher Anita Toland explained.
“All the materials we used have been collected from community access ways across all the beaches in our area and the kids have put it into a collage with the sea eagle as our emblem.”
The collage has been entered in Great Lakes Council’s Waste 2 Art competition which stipulates that work must be predominantly made from material that would otherwise end up in landfill or be recycled.
