An easterly to south-easterly swell is expected to reach 2.5 metres peaking Friday afternoon with a swell period around 11 seconds.
These conditions will result in a higher level of risk for coastal activities such as swimming, crossing bars by boats and rock fishing.
Surf Life Saving NSW Operations Manager, Matt Rodwell, says “We’d advise against people swimming at unpatrolled locations and to stay away from rock platforms and headlands until these conditions moderate”.
Remember during dangerous surf conditions to:
* Swim only at patrolled beaches between the red/yellow flags (No flags, No swim)
* Avoid rock-fishing on the open coastline
* Inexperienced surfers should avoid surfing
* Boaties should check their local forecast, seek advice from NSW Maritime and always wear a lifejacket
* Visit Beachsafe for information on patrolled beaches/times
* If witnessing an in-water emergency dial 000 – Police
