A 51-YEAR-OLD man was flown to John Hunter Hospital with puncture wounds to his legs yesterday after being bitten by a three-metre shark.

The commercial fisherman was pulling in nets filled with mullet on the beach at Crowdy Head about 3.30pm when he was bitten.
The local man and other fishermen were setting free sharks caught in their nets when one swam in behind his legs and bit him.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew him to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
