Great Lakes team scoops silver and bronze medals

29 Oct, 2008 08:40 AM
A BIG weekend for Great Lakes Canoe Club at Penrith Whitewater ended with the State slalom titles being fought on a challenging course set by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Six Great Lakes canoeists - Maddy and Lydia Toms, Jarrod and Phillip Koch, Jarryd Clemensen and Callum Leahy – took on the 18-gate setup, and were rewarded with medals.

Lydia paddled strongly to win Under 14 silver, and older sister Maddy clinched bronze in the Under 18s.

Jarryd Clemensen took bronze in the Open division, and silver in Under 18s.

The final selection race for the NSW team is November 8 at Penrith.
