No more teachers, no more books, for now

THE words of shock rocker Alice Cooper were heard reverberating (metaphorically) through Great Lakes Senior Campus this week – “School’s out for summer. School’s out forever.”

The HSC has wrapped up yet again and a record 69,261 HSC students have been relinquished into the wide world, before a quick detour to the Gold Coast this month.

After six weeks of intensive examinations the iron cast smiles on Curtis Champion and Sophie Woods’ faces said it all.

“It feels so, so good,” Curtis said.

The pair agreed the HSC wasn’t easy but was mostly fair.

“I think probably the hardest part was to keep motivated over six weeks, to keep focused,” Curtis said.

“There is a lot of hype but you just need to stay on top of things, organisation is very important.”

A statement shared in agreement with Sophie who studied increasingly popular Vet Courses in childcare and tourism.

“It was good for me having that balance of TAFE and school.”

Great Lakes Senior Campus principal Steven Nicholas said he expects a good set of results from the “very interesting group”.

“We’ve had things thrown to test us this year, but the students have been able to apply themselves.

“It is one of the most harmonious groups we’ve had.”

Like so many gone before them, Curtis will travel to Schoolies on a surfing road trip this month before travelling overseas for a gap year.

While Sophie has decided to skip schoolies and begin a year long adventure in the UK in the next few months.

Great Lakes College Senior Campus held its graduation ceremony yesterday.
